Vineyard · ChãCasa Vinha
A vineyard cottage for two
Casa Vinha is one room and one bed among the ungrafted vines of Chã, with the crater wall standing over the far edge of the plot. We built it for two people who want to wake up quietly, drink the wine that grows outside the door, and not go far.
Inside it's a single bedroom that opens to a small living corner and a kitchenette, all under one roof. The walls are thick against the cold and the windows are set to catch the morning light coming across the vines. There's a little wine cellar off the main room, a cool dark nook where a few bottles from the caldera keep well. It's a small place and it's meant to be, with room enough for two and not really for more.
The house sits inside Chã das Caldeiras, the old crater high on Fogo, surrounded by the vineyards that grow straight in the black volcanic soil. The vines here are ungrafted, planted low against the wind, and in the right months you can watch the harvest happen a few steps from the terrace. The crater walls close the valley on one side and the Pico rises behind them. Walking paths run out from the village toward the lava fields and up toward the peak, and the local wine cooperative is close enough to reach on foot.

Good to know
- Chã sits high inside the crater, so days are warm and nights get genuinely cold. Bring layers even in summer.
- The road up to Chã is rough in places and best done in a 4x4. We can help you arrange a transfer from São Filipe.
- The village is remote and off-grid in feel. Power and water are reliable but simple, and shops are small, so plan a little ahead.
- We meet you at the house to hand over the keys and point you toward the wine, the walks, and where to eat.
Room details and photography are a working placeholder — the final specifics and a real shoot come from the hosts.
